25 Years of “Green Campus” – The Technion as a Living Lab for Global Sustainability 🌍

The Technion celebrates a quarter century of the “Green Campus” project, launched in May 2000 by Prof. Yoram Avnimelech and Dr. Ofira Ayalon. Since then, the initiative has positioned the university at the forefront of sustainability – not only in Israel, but on the global stage.

✔️ Over the years, the campus has expanded with new research buildings, educational centers, and interdisciplinary workspaces. Since 2021, it has eliminated the use of single-use plastic utensils.

✔️ Cutting-edge research and innovation have led to the creation of breakthrough companies: Aleph Farms (cultivated meat), H2OLL (atmospheric water harvesting), H2Pro (green hydrogen production), and more…

✔️ These efforts are supported by educational initiatives, community gardens, inspiring walking paths, and the use of AI-based tools for environmental decision-making.

The message is clear: when science, technology, and innovation are guided by visionary leadership – real change toward a sustainable future is possible.
