Connecting Communities and Nature: Jane’s Walk at the Technion 馃懀
How do we bridge the gap between academia, community, and urban nature? This past weekend, we explored this exact question by hosting a special tour as part of the international Jane’s Walk movement.
We walked along the Technion’s “Connecting Trails”, a community-driven trail network designed to integrate our campus infrastructure with the surrounding natural woodland.
Inspired by the urbanist Jane Jacobs, these walks remind us that there is no substitute for looking at a place “at eye level.” When we walk together, we observe the hidden gems, local biodiversity, and ecosystem services that a well-integrated green space provides, but most importantly, we see the people who make this environment thrive.
A huge thank you to Vera Zoubary for leading such an engaging and insightful tour, and to everyone who joined us to walk, share, and view our campus ecosystem through a fresh lens.
Integrating walkable, resilient nature spaces into institutional environments isn’t just about preservation, it鈥檚 about enhancing community well-being and creating living, breathing spaces. 馃崈
