The Ministry of Energy chose the Technion and Bar-Ilan University to establish a national research institute in the field of energy storage

The Ministry of Energy is establishing a national research institute in the field of electrochemical storage. The Institute will be established in partnership with Bar-Ilan University at the Technion and its goal is to strengthen Israeli leadership in this field. In addition, the Institute will engage in the training of personnel who will specialize in the fields of knowledge required for electrochemical storage, as well as the transfer of innovative technologies from the academic environment to industry.

The Institute will be led by a joint steering committee of the Ministry of Energy, research institutions and external bodies, headed by Dr. Gideon Friedman, Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Energy, and headed by Prof. Yoad Tzur, Head of the Grand Energy Program at the Technion, and Prof. Doron Orbach, Scientific Director of the Energy and Sustainability Center at Bar-Ilan University. The scientific steering committee will include Prof. Yair Ein-Eli of the Technion’s Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, as well as Prof. Malachi Noked and Prof. Lior Elbaz, both from the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials at Bar-Ilan University.
