The Technion campus includes extensive open space and ecological assets in the area of both open and built-up areas. The open space, which has unique environmental characteristics and is important for conservation on a local and regional scale, can form part of an ecological corridor. These and other characteristics create an opportunity for the formulation and adoption of a significant environmental policy as a central part of the formulation process of the Technion’s strategic plan.
The Sustainability Center promotes preservation of the open spaces within the campus that are used as centers for research, teaching, education and ecological, environmental and sustainable management of the entire campus (natural forest at the Technion), while preserving and properly caring for the wild animals that surround us.
